RE:"That's great the Swiss are helping, but what about the Muslims who we just finished helping because of the tsunami? Where's their response?"

Must be Muslim first, all for one and one for all. Kind of like some other countries.

And Austria as well. Many people in foreign countries are just now understanding how bad things are in the Gulf states. You've got to remember......the US gets hurricanes all the time. They aren't a good thing but they are fairly common and manageable.....like the Germans getting flooded out last week from freak storms. No one from the US was sending aid to Germany because it was felt they had things under control and that's what most Europeans think is happening now in the US......like one of my German friends who called today.

He had no idea that things were as bad as they are....what he thought was NO got flooding like the Munich/Bavaria area. After I brought him up to date, he was shocked. He did not have a clue........he has a really busy life and is always running around. He doesn't have time to watch the news. As the extent of the devastation becomes more apparent, more aid will be coming our way.

As for the Muslims, most Muslim countries are dirt poor and can't afford to send us help. As for the ones with money like the Saudis, they may or may not send money, we'll see........its still too early to tell what they'll do. Remember most Muslims don't like the US. That won't stop them from taking aid from us during the tsunami but don't expect that that will guilt them into helping us even if they had the excess to do so. And remember too.....when the US Navy ship wanted to do military exercises in an Indonesia bay during the tsunami, they were asked to leave. There is considerable mistrust of the US's intentions at this time.

Its not good but it is what it is. If you feel strongly about it, then next time don't send aid to a Muslim country.

What do you want the Indonesians and Sri Lankans to do, send over a few maids?
