At least they would have acres and acres of land where gardens could be plotted. There and buildings for day care centers, medical clinics, grocery stores, housing, toilets and showers with running water ect.

In a PM to me, one of your posters suggested that the necessary repairs will give the refugees something to do ie a form of employment
doing the repairs maintenance themselves. Base rehab and residency might provide security and a sense of purpose for some. There's an obvious large displaced poor population thats going to have to live somewhere for a long time. It would be a long term effort and the need for training for many of these refugees is great, but the Peace Corp and other agencies are designed with this very thing in mind.

I think he's right, and my basic response was that it beats the heck out of the Astrodome.

He also suggested a fax/call/email to my Congressmen.
