Bush cut funding for levee protection, the local Army Engineers in New Orleans, ignored FEMA warnings and sent 45% of the local Guard to Iraq despite governors' warnings, plus most of the heavy equipment now needed to save the LA and Miss victims. While the hurricane itself is not Bush's fault, this negligence happened on his watch while he was BS'ing around in Crawford and giving another ridiculously dishonest speech about how he was like FDR during WWII and that we were in Iraq to protect Iraqi oilfields from Osama Bin Lauden. Yesterday, Bush told is everything was going to be fine. He did not say a word about bringing help back home from Iraq and did not seem personally concerned in the least. It seems Bush has some mental problems. He cannot grasp reality. Bush needs to also grasp reality about global warming. Though the fix is not a quick one by any means, rapid damage is being done, as GOP Senators Graham and McCain attest to, and hurricanes like Katrina are growing more violent because of the warming of the ocean which also kills aquatic wildelife we need to survive in the future.

The people at DU are calling FEMA wimps for scuttling the search and rescue operations because they are being shot at! And the claim it is ethnic cleansing! And much more nonsense: democraticunderground.com 3. Murderers! This Adminstration is murdering people! I don't know why. But that's what they're doing. What have we become? 8. When we said we had to abandon New Orleans I didn't know that we meant the survivors too. Ethnic cleansing anyone? 11. Arrgghh!! Fire the head of FEMA and get someone in there who is NOT a Bush appointee! Every minute wasted now increases the death toll and these f___ers are engaging in negligent homicide! This is the worst rescue operation ever conducted in my lifetime. 10. They are letting thousands of people just die in downtown New Orleans

Bush said on Thursday the shutdowns of refineries in the Gulf Coast region because of Hurricane Katrina would bring a "temporary" disruption to the energy industry. He also called on Americans to conserve energy, saying they should avoid buying gasoline if they don't need it. Such a total son-of-a-Bush moron. As if people are buying gasoline so they can fill large tubs in their backyards and watch the gasoline evaporate!
