I think the problem is that the national guard is in iraq. Its a staffing issue. At least thats what the pundits were saying on msnbc today.

re: Harry Connick, Jr
He's the only person of authority - believe it or not, a musician -- to go in there and tell them that things are going to be ok.

RE: "Why aren't choppers and C-130s air-dropping supplies???"

"I saw two gentlemen die in front of me because of dehydration. I saw a baby near death.

No water, no ice, no C-rations, nothing, for the last four days.

They were told to go to the convention center. They did"
----------------------------------------------------------

Wow. They wait FOUR days before even thinking about bringing in military water planes to get people out of the convention center - the very place they told people to go?

If our govt was able to carpet bomb Afghanistan with food supplies over their entire country, why not New Orleans?

What's wrong with this picture?

Regards,
Amy J

>>Why aren't choppers and C-130s air-dropping supplies???<<<

They really should be. I still don't understand why a much larger National Guard contingent wasn't in place in NO by Sunday night....it was a no-brainer. They defintiely should be airdropping palettes of MRE's and water. They don't have 48 hours......
