it is very understandable for everyone to be upset.

i expect plans could have been better. it will be an exercise in post audit reviews of what went wrong.

let's start with the break and letting the lake into new orleans. Should people throughout the country for storm been waiting to fly into new orleans, should all military leaves have been canceled. should all fema been at their stations ready to go. All trucks standing by with food supplies , buses ready to go in.. but can't with the water. how about the helo's how many can fly into an area safely.

great to second guess today.. i prefer to wait a few months and see what could have been done.

I doubt we put the whole country on alert for every hurricane.

But i do not think it correct to start up a race thing and try to bring it into question as reasons for slow response.

I doubt anyone knew how serious new orleans situation was until second day. at first it was a minor break then major.

i think this is just awful what is going on and i find the response just awful. but i do not know how much faster it could have been accomplished unless you gear up for major storm damage every time we think a big one is going to hit.

I wonder how long it takes to get all the sailors back on a carrier when sudden notice they are leaving port. how quick they can get fuel, food, medical supplies on board to keep them in operation for the trip and for a few days while there.

Just bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.

Stockpile food, as you do.

Prepare to do it yourself.

And, oh yes, have several firearms on hand.

Living where you do, I'd worry about the gangs that are taking over parts of DC and Montgomery County.

There are specific measures that families can take to avoid crisis. unclewest wrote THE book on how, but I don't think he has any left and it is out of print.

We've taken several steps, but haven't finished our preparations. This event has lit a fire under me. I am now going to finish the job.
