>>Levee no longer critical - levels have equalized on both sides<<

It's still critical, they have to plug the levee to be able to pump out the water. They're currently trying to dam the mouth of the 17th street canal with concrete barriers, to stop the flow into it, then patch the leak. It'll take at least a few days to finish all that, then 4-6 weeks to pump out the water (provided the pumps work). Then a few months in damage/environmental assessment and clean-up and infrastructural repairs. Then rebuilding in some areas can start. By then all the refugees who are capable of finding a job will have found one elsewhere, and maybe half will wanna move back. Very, very grim.....The total cost for all this will be over $100 billion I suspect.
