Ted, Not when you defend incompetence or pretend it doesn't exist.

Who said I'm defending incompetence? Lots of reasons why there's so much incompetence in all levels of American government, and Bush is just one part of it.

Sorry, I understated the issue..........its not just incompetence........its criminal negligence. That's what we have here. That's what you don't want to see.

Unless of course, you see Bush's aloof, laissez-faire attitude as a big liability, which I would agree to.

Let me try this one more time.......now I want you to employ the brain you used at Cornell and not the partisan substitute that fills in from time to time. The levees in NO were built to withstand at most a Cat. 3 hurricane. Everyone in LA and FEMA knew that was inadequate given NO's location. So they proposed to upgrade the levees to withstand a Cat. 5 hurricane. In the past 4 years, funds to implement that upgrade were diverted to the war in Iraq. Meanwhile they found the money to build a $200+ million bridge to nowhere in Alaska.

Now you understand......had the upgrades occurred there is a very good chance the levees would have held and the current disaster of horrific proportions would not be happening in NO. NO was spared the worst of Katrina.....had the levees held this would have been a run of the mill disaster......now its become a perfect storm of a disaster. Do you see any of that? Do you see an analogy here......DC fiddling while NO burned? Even a glimmer? If you do, then that should resonate with some emotional cord inside you. Forget that you voted for Bush. Feel anything? Forget where your loyalities lie....you are just one human visualing the stupid and painful mistakes of other humans. If you are getting it at all, anger is a very likely emotion. Is that happening for you? Let me know.
