re: It turns out Bush did call for volunteer rationing this afternoon......I think.......sort of. He said in his latest speech: "Don't buy gas unless you have too". I know that's real good ole boy talkspeak and very direct.......but does that mean he's calling for voluntary rationing or not.

Was that regional or national? Been really busy with work... that's why I was shocked with the local shortage.

All he said was: "Don't buy gas unless you have too". It sounds national to me but then again he said it with a good ole boy accent so it may have been regional.

Actually, now that I've read CJ's post........he may have meant gouging and not rationing; in other words, don't fill up 55 gallon drums with gas. Where the hell do people find 55 gal. drums? And why do they think that's clever?

Well, there is some good news. Chevron has its refinery up and running in Baton Rouge and there are other refineries ready to go once the power grid is back up.

Meanwhile gas gouging pushed prices up to $6 per gallon in Georgia until the governor put into place strict gouging laws.
