After having played the "Anti American" card to get successfully reelected 6 years ago, same Schroeder is now concerned about his political legacy.

Indeed, and like the Marshall Plan, Germany's help to the US will prove self-serving: any oil/gasoline shortage on the US market drives the prices up WORLDWIDE, that is, in Germany as well.... European consumers' purchasing power has already been badly hit by the oil/gasoline spike --and winter's heating binge has yet to come....
