People are starting to THINK about what this disaster says about Bush. I was just talking to a friend about the NO disaster. She voted for Bush and supported him until now. After she told me that the police force in NO has quit because they could do nothing, I told her about what could have been done. I told her the National Guard SHOULD have been there right away, and would have been except for Iraq. I told her about the pipelines being restored before saving the people. I told her how engineers had warned for years about shoring up the levee, had begged the fed. govt for money, how the funds had instead been cut 44%, how generally, the National Guard would have shored up the levee before the hurricane, how Bush has refused help from other countries, and this is just a guess - FEMA commandeered a bus that could have evacuated folks to give it to oil pipeline workers, I'm sure. By the time I was done, she said "I had no idea - bring home the troops" She stopped short of saying get rid of Bush. But I bet if she continues to think about it, that will be her next thought.
