Yeah, if your apartment/house has already been ramped up, you're usually good to go. The tech doesn't come out and limit the line again when you move, too expensive.

I moved into a brand-new building, unfortunately.

Apparently the cable signal degrades if if is split multiple times. Our cable guy advised us that they recommend no more than 4 splits (separate outlets) combined with Cable internet usage.

We kept dropping so much (Charter) that we dumped the cable modem and went with the slower DSL option.
