I'm not even sure you're taking into account the ripple effect of an extended period of lower oil production(5% of our national daily fix), increased prices which will push some people out of business, to the edge of bankruptcy or break the budgets of the marginal. All forms of transportation will increase in costs, prices will have to be adjusted accordingly. Did you notice the national savings rate announced yesterday is now in negative territory? Add this to the coming decline in the housing market and you have increased poverty, decreased consumer spending, people losing jobs as a result and no longer able to use the house as an ATM. Add in the new bankruptcy bill which will not allow any debts to be written off and we have an increasing class of wage slaves.
