sandintoes, I had assumed that they had been trapped by Katrina and that they had become ill in the process.

BTW, hospitals all over the region are receiving evacuees, including the patients who had already been in the various New Orleans hospitals, hospitals which had become largely nonfunctional. Obviously, many of these people had already been patients in the New Orleans hospitals when Katrina hit.

My hat's off to all the medical personnel all over who are involved in this most extraordinarily difficult and unique situation. - Holly
