Indeed, and like the Marshall Plan, Germany's help to the US will prove self-serving: any oil/gasoline shortage on the US market drives the prices up WORLDWIDE, that is, in Germany as well.... European consumers' purchasing power has already been badly hit by the oil/gasoline spike --and winter's heating binge has yet to come....


I am not sure what is wrong with doing a gesture that supports and benefits an ally even as it might help you and yours as well. I don't think you fully understand why Schroeder's support and words are so important to the American psyche at the present time.........Americans are not feeling the love. Schroeder's words help to reduce that feeling of being alone and isolated while facing one of the worst disasters in American history. We are having a crisis of the soul and when you are in that place, kind words are always appreciated no matter their motivation.
