>Still, when when the truth comes out, people will recognize this has been one of this nation's finest hours.

Just like the Iraq war.

Nobody expected that I10, Hwy 90, and the Causeway would have been destroyed by the storm. Nobody. The city was effectively cut off for ground transportation.

The reporters are saying it takes them 10 minutes to get in and out of NO. Some freeways are down but now all of them. Yesterday, everyone was told that the buses and soldiers were coming. By afternoon, none had showed up. Two reporters took us out of NO on existing roadway looking for the missing buses and troops. They located them.....a considerable distance from the city. Their leisurely pace may have been all well and good if it were Monday but at the time, it was after 5 days of screwups. People did not have much patience left waiting for Bush's gov't to get its act together; waiting for Bush, Cheney and Rice to get back from their respective holidays. You understand.........you would be screaming at the top of your lungs if you were in NO........but then I suspect you wouldn't be caught dead in NO.

BTW the general in charge....General Honoré.....is an idiot.
