"FEMA didn't even know about the thousands at the Convention Center"

Then what is FEMA worth?

Good post Dave..

We could all be better prepared and save money doing so.

With plenty of local power outages which may last few days, some will rush down and buy a new generator at the HD or Lowes,at a price higher than needed.

And if I lose power to my water well, thats all she wrote
because there is no storage and therefore no crapper, no sink, no cooking water no dish washing water.
Some day, tho, I am going to add a 50 gallon tank, or keep a barrel full, or..get a used generator....

I am lost for answers if you ask why in H$$l I have not done those things

perhaps at one time some of these people did have three days of food , maybe even water. these are poor and a lot of welfare people. I expect even those with great intentions would have used up the extra food supplies at one time or another long before an emergency came up.

i still run to fill my bath tub during thunder storms or heavy snow storms in case we lose electric. at least i will have water to flush etc. i do carry drinking water stored in basement. Food? what ever cans i got in the house, did buy a few kero lamps last year. do have a fireplace with nothing but maybe some heat near it otherwise it takes all the heat out of the house. do have a couple of propane heaters i bought last year for emergency. got to work on propane stove. Oh, forgot got tons of soup cans laying around here. gg
