Bush is a Jonah, since he was appointed (not elected) nothing but bad things have come to our nation.

Do you love Bush more than you love your nation?

You have helped destroy our country.

..."None of which are the liberal states where the whiners pen their dribble while they secretly say, thank goodness all those people aren't coming to my city..."

Amen...Say what you will about Bush country, at least they are willing to take the people.

The Los Angeles Times had an article today about Villaragiosa, our mayor. He pledges "Aid" nothing specific mind you, just a bunch b.s. PR crap statements without any substance. A bunch of whining and hand wringing about the large number of homeless people we already have, etc. etc. Then they also quoted Yvonne Brathwait Burke, a popular Los Angeles County Supervisor that is a strong advocate of keeping a money sucking - dangerous to your health- Hospital open because it serves a black minority community. This hospital is practically empty and a disgrace to the city. She wants to set up collection sites for donations and set up a task force to study how to help storm victims who might move to Los Angeles. Let's see that sounds like a 6th grader's plan.

Council members cautioned that the city needed to prepare, because these people are going to show, wether they are invited or not. I am not kidding you, those are the quoted words.

My husband (a medical doctor) went to Birmingham, Alabama. He used to work at UAB where a lot of NO patients where transferred and he will be donating his services for the next couple of weeks wherever he is needed in that region. We have decided that we will take a couple of people into our home on a temporary basis. (O.K. we are cheating, he will do some pre-screeing).

It's really not a racial thing. The reason you see all these black people is because there are a lot of black people living there.
I have lived in 3 places in the US for longer periods of time. When I first came to the states I came to Jacksonville, Fl. There is a big black population. I also lived in Atlanta with a big black population and now having lived in Los Angeles for 6 years you really almost forget about "black diversity" because it's all about Latinos and Persians and Armenians and Arabs and Russians and and and and ..

It's really not a racial thing. It's a socio- economic thing in my opinion.
The people left behind were poor.
I think a post mortem of this terrible Katrina tragedy will result in means for poor people to have an opportunity to evacuate.
Another thing to consider would be: should local authorities really be put in charge of handling such events. People worry about their own families and their own needs and are not as effective.

Of course there are a lot of things that will be examined.

In the mean time we really should take off our hats to the states that have agreed to carry the brunt of this refugee burden.

That is a "Nail-on-the-head" post!

All I can say is gof bless Texas...Oklahoma, Arkansas.

None of which are the liberal states where the whiners pen their dribble while they secretly say, thank goodness all those people aren't coming to my city.
