Why does it take 5 days to put troops into a US city which has just been hit by a disaster? No excuse for it. Even with all the calamity and lack of comms, the choppers should have been packed and ready. Bushies knew that at the very least there would be widespread medical, security and water problems. They also knew that the levees might not hold, especially since they knew they had cut funding and basically stopped the improvement prograns on the levees.

This is indefensible mis-leadership and it reminds me of the lack of planning after the Iraq invasion where Bushies failed to secure Saddam's ammo dumps, museum, banks and many other high-import targets.

The fact is that Bush-Cheney are very good at helping the oil business and industry, and very good a photo ops, smear campaigfns and campaign speeches, but when it comes to protecting the people or waging a successful military campaign they are abyssmal. They are also very divisive and partisan which always pisses off half the country. Remember CLinton often bent over backwards to include Republicans.
