My neighbor here in the military was called up Wednesday morning and they left Thursday morning. The hurricane hit Monday morning. The levees failed Tuesday.

Why wasn't you neighbor called up Sunday to get ready?

Yes, but would they have gotten out as quickly?

I was talking about city transit before the storm hit...
The mayor apparently said everyone get out that can and the rest of you stuck here, good luck..

LOL. There is so little you really know. The mayor said no such thing. You so desperately want to convince someone that the mayor and the governor were responsible for the current mess that you are painting yourself into a corner with a lot of nonsense. Well, your scenario is just not true.......the mess was with the feds and Mr. Bush. Deal with it!

You don't think beefing up the levees would've made a difference?

We'll never know. Is that THE critical issue? A cat5 hurricane hit NewOrleans. End of story.

First it was not a Category 5 hurricane when it made landfall......it was a cat. 4. Secondly, at the last minute, it jugged to the east and the eye missed NO completely. That's why Biloxi/Gulfport/Bay St. Louis are in such bad shape. In fact, NO came out of the hurricane in very good shape. Had the levees held, NO would already be in recovery. The levees failed because they were built to withstand a minimal cat. 3 hurricane.......not the maximum in that category.

A few hundred million dollars spent would have saved American taxpayers a few billion.
