You still don#t get it Ted: It hit hard enough - or could you imagine a worse disaster?

Thus it's quite academic to speculate about how much worse it could have come if the storm had kept up the full cat5 levels.

Its not academic at all. As I understand it, there is a significant difference in the measurement levels of hurricanes as it is with earthquakes. Therefore, the difference between a CAT 4 vs a CAT 5 is pretty substantial in impact.

Hurricane ratings are fairly linear using their storm surge measurements as compared to earthquakes which are measured on a logarithmic scale (base 10).

ted, you REALLY need to stop making it up as you go. Not that any of your buddies care about accuracy where possible...
