I went to see the new John LeCarre movie, The Constant Gardener, last night and was struck by the visual images of the miserable lives of the african poor depicted and the similarity to the images of African American poor in New Orleans. The movie is brave in its attempt to posit some actual moral views into the monster bag of popcorn that is most movies, especially in the summer. BTW, the cinematographer is absolutely awesome in the movie and the casting was first rate. The first movie rave I've had in years and I'm normally into more "girly" flicks.

I think we have the government we deserve, with every voting decision made on the premise of I've got mine, Jack so "screw you". MP
