>> I10 westbound was passable.

I suggest you simply look at the satellite photos.

I10 from the canal south and 610 across the north had numerous sections that were underwater.

While it is true that alternate routes eventually could be worked out, all this takes time.

The criticism of the federal response is totally misplaced and is being done out of total ignorance the scope of this disaster as well as what was actually done by the federal government.

The real problems were at the state and local level, where the local government failed to have even the SLIGHTEST disaster plan to deal with this situation.

That the City of New Orleans wasn't more prepared is criminal. As it became clear the storm was going to pose a direct threat, the city did NOTHING but hold up its hands and scream "RUN LIKE HELL". They provided NO shelter facilities (the Superdome was not even equipped to deliver the most basic of services). No transportation for its population who obviously were in no positions to evacutate. It is pathetic.

That idiots are criticizing the federal response at this time is reflective of the usual ABB attitude as well as a great deal of emotion and ignorance. How can one rationally criticize the recovery effort if one doesn't comprehend the scope of the problem? The answer, of course, is "only on an emotional, non-analytical basis".

Which is what the media is perfect at. Jumping to conclusions.
