<By this I mean that I could take the children of Fallujah and turn them all into Astronauts, convert Jewish babies into fanatical, mass-murdering SS guards, and shake a generation of the poorest Voodoo-worshippers in Haiti into a cadre of top-flight nuclear physicists, chemical engineers and computer scientists.>

No he couldn't. A poodle is different from an alsation which is different from a beagle which is different from a labrador, though their distribution curves overlap and all are dogs.

You would be hard-pressed to get a fleet of top-flight nuclear physicists out of Haiti, even with all the money in the world and all the best teachers etc, starting at age 0.

This very fine essay on tribalism brings me unpleasant memories of the multiculturalism that the Clinton administration was trying to shove down our throats.

When are we going to realize that we are all Americans, and that our culture is the AMERICAN culture? Not any time soon, it appears. As long as people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, and many of the Hollywood elite like Sean Penn hold sway over a significant portion of our population, we'll never make any progress.

This went by me: Malodorous Michigan Manatee of Mendacity

Does any body know who or what he's talking about?
