Lesson: Don't listen to the NY Times editorial board.

After having read your post and eurota.blogspot.com , there is nothing inherently inconsistent or contradictory on what the NYT wrote in it's editorial pages.

If you want to have a serious discussion on it I'll do so.

Our press has gone a great job on Katrina, don't attack it.
The press saved many-many lives and many of them risked their own to give us the story.

We obviously need a strong press. If we didn't have one, Bush and his cronies might have taken another 2 days to get their act together. They were shamed into acting by the power of the press showing the people how things really were.

The most vocal critic I've seen of Bush and FEMA on TV has been Joe Scarborough and the GOP senator of Louisiana. Try attacking them for a change.

What has the far rightwing press done during Katrina? Attacked the victims. Primarily black victims and the black mayor. People who were literally underwater at the time.

Bush-Delay cut the levee funding by more than 80% in 2004 to send the money and Army Engineers to Iraq.

Quit trying to cover up for that huge error by pointing fingers at a different waterways project. It was Lake Ponchatraine not the Mississippi River which flooded New Orleans.

Indirectly, Iraq cost us New Orleans. Thanks a lot, GW.
