I read points of view I don't like all the time. I try to read very widely from the world press, actually. However, the fact that civilization has broken down in New Orleans does not justify the lack of a timely, coordinated response to the disaster. Nor does the poverty stricken blackness of most of the people who could not leave justify in any way what happened to them. Most of those people are not looters, and they deserve our compassion and empathy.

The Bush administration cut funding to keep the levees in the area in good condition. They took FEMA's primary role and authority away, and tucked it into the terrorism effort. And I don't think there are many civilized countries in the world where bodies would be floating everywhere a week after a disaster, either. That comment you made about no Republicans and no Democrats in a disaster, only Americans? I don't think that is going to hold true in this disaster, but we'll see.
