There are so many ways in which technology could assist us in disaster planning, evacuation and execution. But it takes forward thinking, money and the desire to save souls . . .all of which have been brought in to question this week.

There was a server farm on the 10th floor of a New Orleans skyscraper, which used diesel generators as its UPS and stayed online throughout the week via fiber optic cables buried deeply underneath the flooded city.

It is a shame that everything our government considers seems to boil down to cost, except war. I've been waiting for someone else to bring out a point, which I am somewhat afraid to type: It is far cheaper to supply body bags than long-term shelter. Citizens of the United States are demanding accountability for all actions which led to the inappropriate response. . which, in turn, likely led to a far higher death toll from flood waters. We want answers.
