There's something like 22 million Iraqis in Iraq. How in the world can you know what "they" want since "they", prior to the invasion, have never been given the freedom to express their collective voice? Some collection of fanatical suicide jihdist killers don't want us there long. That is in no way an expression of the desires of the Iraqi people. In fact, I'd wager the Iraqi people hate the jihadist suicide fanatic killers a hell of a lot more than they dislike coalition troops.
