I don't think we disagree on that. However, I DO appreciate that people are not ROBOTS from some book. I DO appreciate that the people here are REAL people with REAL feelings. I see no reason to insist that these real people repress their feelings and pretend to have no emotional commitment to what they claim as their values and ideals. I would certainly oppose unlawful or defamatory interactions (given that almost all members here are known by name and address to someone on SI)--but I do not support prejudice and "back of the bus" banning mentality. I do not see any benefit in allowing people to exercise their prejudices to THAT degree in a public forum. I would rather allow people to be honest (even if they are "perceived" to be rude) than to put duct tape across their lips.
