Yes, HAM operators are finding it impossible to get into New Orleans. That is to be expected. As far as on the outlying areas HAM operators are already transmitting. The beauracracy does not work. Everything in triplicate.

That seems to be causing the worst of the cluster**** going on.

No one is getting into the heart of it. It will be better to have a destination in mind, contact someone there and let them know you are coming. Being already set up down there will be important. Make sure no one is breaking the law. Everyone will be suspect and subject to full searches. That is just the way the military is.

Not going to be fun......

I don't think transmission is being blocked. If they block radio frequencies it can have a bleed over effect on their radios as well. They can block specific frequencies but not over a large area without everyone being aware of it. The old HAM's I have heard discussing it agree that the background noise being heard on the frequencies is that of the intense sun activity we have had for the last 4 months. Not from government jamming.

But it is something to worry about. Faith and trust in govmt. is at an all time low. I know how I feel and know lots of others that feel the same way. I think you should be worried about the amount of paperwork the feds may require. That is why it is good to have someones name that they can call to back up the story. That may allow one to slip through quickly without being hassled.

Make sure your stories match. Tell the one on the other end exactly what you are doing. Matching stories work.

Who is jamming communications in New Orleans?
crawfordpeace.nfshost.com

Interviews with rescue workers have included statements that none of the phones work- land or cell, and one local official reported that FEMA officials cut his emergency telephone lines- which he ordered reconnected and placed under armed guard protection.
