I'm not a military person, much less a strategist.

From what I've read, however, it appears the military should have been given free rein to pursue the North Vietnamese army across the Cambodian border. The failure to do so just gave them a sanctuary in which to regroup for further attacks.

Have you read We Were Soldiers Once, and Young?

If not, I recommend the book.

Don't bother with the movie.
