Speaking of lumber, just high tight are the markets for lumber and building materials? If building materials are tight, then the housing bubble is ever more a thorn in our side and this should leave the Fed no choice but to keep tightening at a measured pace. To loosen money even more would allow greedy consumers to keep using the using low rates and exotic loans to bid up houses and thus building materials to the stratosphere in direct competition w/ materials and labor needed to rebuild New Orleans and other Katrina damaged areas.
