In an ideal world of magic and makebelieve -- where the schoolbusses were magically transported to exactly where the people needed to be picked up.

And there was already magically a place to take them to -- wonder where that might have been? Given that every hotel everywhere was already full to capacity with paying customers.

And food, clothing, medical care and shelter were magically in place.

Yes, we need magic school busses.

There were actually 550 buses....206 school buses, and 350 major city buses. All were supposed to be gassed up, and ready to pick up people who didn't have transportation. The Mayor himself said there were 100,000 people they knew didn't have transportation out.

He told people BEFORE the storm to leave. Why didn't they make a few trips with those buses and get people on them.????

550 buses x 40 people = 22,000 people each trip made

And why didn't those buses have outlying secure shelters already identified?

Can't wait to see what the City of NO had as First Responders in their Security plan. One has to wonder if anyone ready it ever?

And don't forget, Nagin himself said the Governor had to be called by the President and he asked her to sign the papers so the Feds could use the strength of the Feds to help. Gov Blanco said "she had to think about it for 24 hours!!!!!"

(If there is any doubt of those quotes from so called reliable sources, like the NOLO press, they will find those quotes identified in the search on Advanced SI Search)

I do wonder exactly what FEMA was expected to do, and on what day was it to be done???? Exactly ....

Before the storm? On Monday
Before the flood on Tuesday? The press releases show that mid-Tuesday afternoon, accounts were coming through of how serious the flood might be....

When was FEMA to be where?????

I do think that the entire First Responder team, no matter who has ultimate responsibility, dropped the ball....where was the water....?

Those plans should have been made years ago. It happens many times, that electric power is out....and flooding of any kind usually stops the use of water systems until pumps are back up...
