not to excuse protectionism in the US, but somehow i think there is a helluva lot more of it in Europe. if Heinz hates protectionism so much why doesn't he attack European clothiers who are not allowed to discount. this protectionism easily costs consumers more than 20%, to the point where Europeans take shopping vacations to America because Bloomingdales seems cheap to them.

He has to me many times.
We were both laughing at textile shortage in the EU and UK just last week.

Heinz is not in favor of protectionism of any kind that I am aware of.

Valero presentation, sees no demand destruction post-Katrina in gasoline consumption. Question would be how much tank topping went on? Should get a more accurate read on this going forward.
