re: Its very possible that had they spent the $200 million on the levees as requested, all of this could have been avoided.

I would change that to "It's very probable...". $200 million, what, we spend that in Iraq every 6 hours or something?

Well, hold on to your seat.....Congress has just introduced a bill to add nearly $50 billion to the allocation of monies for disaster relief. That's on top of the $10 billion already allocated.

In the meantime, E coli has been found in the waters of NO. And as the waters recede in the Garden District of NO, new bands of looters have made an appearance.

Does this all sound too familiar? Is this disaster following in the footsteps of Iraq? If I were a strongly religious man, I would say God has a plan for Mr. Bush.

BTW they were interviewing the commander of the latest ship to arrive in the Gulf bringing supplies. The guy seemed very competent. The reporter asked him when was he asked to head to the Gulf and who did the asking. He said he didn't want to get into the blame game. Then a little bit later he inadvertently blurted out that they had started loading up the day Katrina hit the Gulf. The reporter asked why did you do that? The commander said because we thought we would be needed. The reporter: But no one asked you to get ready? The commander just looked at her.

Which leads me to my last comment..........on every level of government from the president down to the FEMA Director, the reporters' gloves are finally off. They are asking hard question after hard question.........and you should see those pompous buttholes flounder. For 5 years, they've had a free ride but it looks like that ride is over. May the Lord be praised! Hallelujah!
