I spoke every day with a friend whose house is in Carrollton. Not sure what kind of line he has but the house is an old Victorian and the number hasn't changed in decades. I assumed that the older lines were OK as long as you had one of the mechanical style phones. We have a couple of old style phones because we lose power in bad storms several times a year. Lots of above ground lines around here and people don't cut their trees back.
