I don't live in California, and certainly it is an easy place to make fun of. Still, I basically think that emotional health is an important component of a nice life, and the seeking of Califorians for that is a positive in my opinion. I don't think it is self-indulgent at all. There are a lot of generally very self-indulgent Californias in general, however. That Hart-Rudman post gave me a huge headache when I tried to read about the commission on the web. It's late and I'm tired. Perhaps someone else could give a little more background on it. Are you asserting that the Bush administration itself had absolutely nothing to do with weakening FEMA?
