I still do not know how a President who has described himself as a "compassionate conservative" decided not to land in Louisiana on his way back to the WH from his vacation ranch. I wonder why he instructed the AF1 pilot to divert the flight path over Louisiana and to lower the aircraft to 2500 ft during the flyover instead to landing in Baton Rouge and meeting and greeting the storm ravaged folks. Where is his compassion? Yes, we do understand that conservatives are not compassionate and that is why he had put the word "compassionate" in front of the word conservative to describe himself as such. But where was and is his compassion?

When he finally does land in Mississippi (not Louisiana first where the damage and death is more extensive 95% of whom are Blacks), he is greeted by the formar head of the Repub party and now the State's Governor Haley Barbour. But when he finally landed in Louisiana, he tried his best to ensure that the Democratic Governor of that state was not there to greet him. Butt it was the sheer will and the grit of the Governor which enabled her to hunt the President down and greet him when he landed in her state. Why is Bush, the White House and the Republican party playing politics with the misery of US citizens?

After landing in Louisiana, the first house he visited was the destroyed house of Sen. Lott. Really? Was it that important for Bush for that photo-op instead of visiting the destroyed houses of common folks. There are many White families who lost their houses in Mississippi. He could have visited one of them knowing that he dislikes blacks. But they are not important personalities like Sen. Lott who is very influential in DC and can damage Bush politically if he wanted to. So what does Bush do. Visit him first. Use the opportunity to mend political fences for his support of Sen. Frist during the ouster of Lott. Politics again.

Never seen one clip of Bush hugging a African American grief stricken family when he was in the city of NO. And here was Clinton who was putting his arms around everybody and anybody, consoling then, comforting them. In fact many folks in NO were angry at Bush and wouldn't even want t go near him. Cameras showed it all.

And he blaming his buddy Brown of FEMA. Crock of shit. The busk stops at his desk. Who brought im Brown to head the FEMA. Why did he let the former FEMA director Mr. Wise go. Didn't Bush praise Mr. Wise's performance during the 2000 debates for the way he handled the Texas wildfires? If he was so impressed THEN WHY DID HE LET WISE GO. That was his decision and he bears full responsibility. He cannot turnaround and blame Brown.

IT WAS A WRONG DECISION ON BUSH'S PART TO LET WISE GO AND IT AGAIN WAS A WRONG DECISION TO BRING BROWN IN. IT is BUSH AND ONLY BUSH WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS DECISIONS.

" About 13% of folks agree this is mainly Bush's fault"

Link? or lie?

"...While 42% of respondents characterized Bush's response to the disaster as bad or terrible, 35% said it was good or great. Federal agencies got exactly the same marks. State and local officials fared only a little better--their response was described as bad or terrible by 35% and good or great by 37%....

But independents gave Bush a thumbs down by 47% to 29%...."
