Most major and many minor categories of spending have increased. Military spending, How can you say military spending has gone up and in the same breath say it's not going into Iraq or Afghhanistan, Stan? education spending,-if education spending is going up, how come about 10 states are suing the feds for unfunded education mandates? Speak into the microphone, please. spending on roads,- you mean like...infrastructure?....like, say, levees? Hahahah. agriculture spending-what in the world are you talking about? There's no "increased spending" on "agriculture." Sure, there's increased spending on agricultural subsidies, which is not quite the same as buying food. And while agribusiness gets more tax funding, they also get more tax relief. Kinda like a double dip. Or should we come right out and call it corporate welfare. Social Security- this is money that has already been "saved" and is technically separate from the federal budget. Bush does not "spend" money on social security. Foreign aid has gone up. - as a percentage of the total federal budget, the US is about 10nth in the world in spending for foreign aid. And that percentage is dropping, unless you consider depleted uranium shells from Abrams tanks in Fallujah a form of foreign aid. Conservatives are notoriously opposed to foreign "aid" unless it directly furthers their greed. Its hard to think of a major category that you know very much about.
