My best guess is all of the levee breaks were on the salt water sides, therefore all of the pumping is going into Lake Pontchartrain, eventually draining into the gulf as the lake is open top the gulf.

The Mississippi as at the bottom and doesn't appear to have any of it's levees breeched.

Which way are the ocean currents in the gulf? It may end up on Florida's beaches...

re: At least part of it has to go there. That is where the pumps are.

Well it would be "interesting" to know where it is going. New Orleans is still a black hole... we really don't know what's happening.

I've got to tell you.......the more I think about it the more I think the mayor is stupid for getting everyone out of NO. I think the city will be back up and running in less than a month. Leaving the city vacant is absolutely crazy. The first lesson in prop. mgmt/development is keep a building full and if that's not possible, then board it up carefully. That's not what's happening in NO.

Once the power is back on, many areas will be habitable..........from the clips, one can see the water did not damage some neighborhoods. NO will need a human presence. I think vacating the city plays right into the hands of the Bushies......they want NO gone. If they have their way, it will burn to the ground.

Anyone who knows of a way to get to a blog let me know. I think this issue is very important. The governor is right to oppose it. I know that there are NO people who are itching to go back. I think their instincts are right on.
