There has been some local coverage of that. For the short term, FEMA is planning on offering debit cards for day to day living expenses. Given the clarity of what has been announced, it probably isn't going to be available for a week or more. Definitely not as easy as getting the checks in the wake of Charley.

Not only are the ones who evacuated forgotten, but so are all the others who weren't in New Orleans. When a senator of the stature of Trent Lott has to demand that aid be sent to his state, you know that the wheels have really come off. Trent had his photo op when Bush talked about rebuilding his house and throwing a kegger.
