My understanding is yes it has been used up in 1/2 the alloted time or so. Cant remember where I read that.

Meanwhile, President George W Bush has asked Congress for a further £28 billion in emergency aid. The $8.4 billion already pledged is predicted to run out this evening.

The 10 Bil has been used up, estimates were that Katrina operations ran 1-2 billion/day for the first week.

Frankly, I think the overall tab from the government alone will be somewhere in the quarter trillion range, BWTFDIK?
