Texas Instruments raises 3Q forecast

Texas Instruments Inc. on Thursday raised its third-quarter outlook, citing growing demand across a broad range of semiconductor products.

The Dallas-based chipmaker now expects earnings of 36 cents to 38 cents a share, which includes the expense of employee stock options. The company previously expected earnings of 31 cents to 35 cents a share. TI still expects the expense for employee stock options to be about $80 million, or 3 cents a share.

TI (NYSE: TXN - News) raised its revenue expectations for the quarter to between $3.48 billion and $3.62 billion from a previous forecast of between $3.29 billion and $3.56 billion.

TI expects semiconductor revenue of between $3.02 billion and $3.14 billion, up from its previous forecast of between $2.84 billion and $3.07 billion in revenue.

The company lowered the high end of its revenue forecast for educational and productivity solutions to between $180 million and $190 million from a previous forecast of between $180 million and $200 million.
