If I understand you and Thomas, the data is being analysed for long term trends and people are using short term data to project long term trends. What both of you are using for data trends could merely be noise in the data.

In the seventies environmentalists were worried about the cooling trends. There was talk of the impending ice age. It may have been overblown. Current concerns over a claimed warming trend may be overblown.

Quite simply don't use wikipedia as an authoritative source if you wish to have any clear discussions. The IPCC data is a fraud.
