Japan never attempted to grow their way out via population growth, development of vacant land and acceleration of spending by the public. Wouldn't you agree it would be tough for American's to abandon the cash is trash philosophy so ingrained into our culture which is the complete opposite of Japan?

You keep forgetting that the US was once a nation of savers. Not that long ago either. I have a chart of that in an upcoming blog. At any rate, negative savings rate is not sustainable, and savings will be going up.

I have admitted many many times that demographics is the one huge plus the US has in terms of deflation fighting. The biggest negative is absurd personal debt.
