i also wonder about that demand fade. NO was easily the biggest national shocker since 9/11, and in terms of wealth destruction maybe the biggest domestic disaster event since the Civil War, so people were riveted to their TV sets. i, for one, didn't go anywhere for about two days and i think a lot of people were like that. that is a short-term knock to all economic activity and the retailers probably felt it as well.

I think a lot of motorists were stuck in front of the tube over the Labor Day weekend, ogling Kristina and her aftermath instead of doing the patriotic thing and bringing us a tankful closer to reaching Peak Oil....they'll be back on the road soon (traffic here in P-town has definitely picked up, IMO.....)
