Not so easy to get rid of them, but I understand that Louisiana is one of the states that permits recalls of public officials. Nagin's term is up very early next year, so there isn't much use in attempting a recall. Blanco's lasts until 2007, though, and some might not want to wait that long to be rid of her.

Given the time it may take to rebuild and re-inhabit New Orleans, it will be interesting to see how many voters there will be by February (I think the primary is in February), and if the NO political machine reclaims the Mayor slot (Nagin was elected as an anti-machine reformer).
