<<Nor a Governor of a State with a MEGA disaster on her hands deciding to "think about it for 24 hours" while people die around her.....>>

That was botched on the local level so bad it looked like a Mogolian cluster, you know. Feds begging to come in and fix the problem and being told no.

Hell, I already gave my solution. DON'T REBUILD NEW ORLEANS ON IT'S PRESENT SITE! Sooner or later someone's going to realize that the taxpayers are spending 500 billion (before it's all over) dollars on 500,000 people that were living where people shouldn't be living - on the coast, below sea level. Lots of towns were devastated by Katrina, but the cost in money and loss of life in NO overshadows all the rest of them put together. Chas was right, it's not feasible to evacuate a city of 1/2 mil every time a hurricane enters the gulf - nor is it fair for the rest of the country to bear the financial burden. Once the city is emptied, blow up the levees and make it part of the gulf. Re-build on the new shoreline, re-build the rest of the gulf coast - bigger and better to accommodate some of the people from the old NO, but DON'T rebuild NO on it's present site! If some stubborn asshole wants to get his face on the news by insisting he be allowed to live on his old property, put him in a rowboat, give him a shove off the shore and tell him to have at it! There! Problem solved!
