re: Ted missed a lot before he was born. No amount of classes and books can replace living through things. Ted is a great example of that.

Why do ALL THESE GUYS keep attacking you personally? I guess they can't argue with your posts... so that's the only alternative. Very Rovish, discredit the messenger, ignore the message.

Think about it.......they've been told their whole lives that the Republicans are smarter than every one else....Dems and Independents included. Then they come up against you or CJ or Z or I and everyone else who is not a Republican, and they can't win for trying. The only one who is effective at all is Harris and he still can't win. Actually, I take that back.......occasionally he has an epiphany and then falls right back into the muck. Bottom line: they have no choice but to resort to name calling. Its all pretty pathetic.

The Republicans are becoming a party of zero substance... Rush clones driven by Rove fundamentals.

Everything is based on myths. They have about as much substance as cotton candy.

A disturbing comment from one of the contributors to the TSC website:

"I've been exchanging e-mail with a friend who is in Boston for the first mortgage banking conference since Katrina hit. During a breakout session on the topic of loss mitigation, there was an opportunity for some of the major players in the country -- including Freddie Mac -- to assess Katrina/NOLA fallout.

At least one major lender declared that ALL of its secured properties in the region are abandoned, and it is in the process of filing claims on ALL of those loans. Every one.

Also of note: "Rumor has it that another larger lender is currently considering the devaluation of some of its portfolios. Issues related to interest advanced by government investors (measured in the hundreds of millions on a monthly basis) and the effects on securitization and bond rating are expected to have a substantial impact on the financial markets."

His quote of the day: "The tension was palpable."

I'd be curious as to what others on the site think may be the vulnerable banks, mortgage underwriters, insurers, and any other names that come to mind. Or, will they be bailed out by the government or (re)insurers.

Regardless, there will be some astounding writedowns.

I was just watching a pundit on Fox News........I wish I could remember his name but these guys are so similarly white, its hard to tell them apart. He had on a former intelligence officer with the FBI I think.....they were talking about Katrina and what went wrong with the relief effort. The intelligence officer kept trying to refer the discussion to the poor performance of M. Brown but the Fox pundit wasn't having it. He kept steering the conversation away from that point, ignoring the FBI guy's comments that went along with his point. For a while, they went back and forth in this fashion.

Finally, the officer who had remained cool and calm throughout said: An important link broke in the chain of command.....meaning M. Brown. The Fox pundit's response: all the links broke from the local level all the way to the president. You could see the frustration in the face of officer. He wasn't trying to be partisan but rather just trying to get at the truth.

With ideologues, that's a hopeless goal. They will deny Brown screwed up [and that includes Chertnoff]from now until we get to the stars. You can't reason with them; instead they can not be allowed to have power.

No content to argue with in his posts. That's what Elroy has correctly pointed out a couple of times. The only consistent thing in his posts seems to be his name at the bottom line, Thus...you know :)

Why do ALL THESE GUYS keep attacking you personally?

He's stupid and offensive. If that doesn't warrant a personal attack, what does?
