re: They also claimed that when Bush met with the mayor and the governor in New Orleans, he flatly told them that any aid was conditional on them turning total control over to him.

Remember the PM exchange we had?

I'll listen tomorrow... long week, the bad news is wearing on me.

re: Did you listen to NPR this evening? Two reporters put together a time line that is devastating to FEMA. They had interviews with people to back it up. They also claimed that when Bush met with the mayor and the governor in New Orleans, he flatly told them that any aid was conditional on them turning total control over to him. Thankfully, he relented the next day. But imagine putting conditions on the lives of his fellow citizens...

I just listened. That's exceptional... everybody should spend the 20 minutes. It's a great review of how this mess unfolded, which is getting lost in the static.

I hope they have a real, bipartisan investigation. A time line, with ALL the bits and pieces of data, would be a remarkable read. The good, the bad and ugly... a primer on how to handle, and not to handle a disaster. It's the only positive we could get from this storm response...

I'm not really interested in kicking anyone's ass over Katrina. It was a horrible tragedy and two wrongs don't make a right. I don't want bush and co to politicize this and i don't want the military and feds to kick anyones ass w/ their strong arm Militant techniques. It's sickening enough. In part they just need to help secure the levies. Pump the water out and get the hell out of people's lives.

For cheney to come out of his fox hole he must be pretty afraid. I guess he must think Bush needs some help to deflect the attention. I had a really strange feeling when I heard colin Powell criticize the response time. that guy is a walking BAD Karma and i don't respect much of anything he says any more.

Makes me sick pretty much to think about all that. U know. People are going to profiteer off of all this. And that's sad. And bush is going to throw 50 billion at it.

U know. California had a 18 billion dollar budget deficit last year do to i dunno. SUPPOSEDLY ACCORDING TO "the cost of medical care" or some damn thing.

It makes me sick to think that a doctor gets 146 dollars for a CT scan. That's right ....146 DOLLLARS....and the piece of equipment cost him literally a couple hundred grand....His malpractice insurance cost him a couple hundred grand a year....his rent cost him 50-100 grand a year.....

and we throw him 146 dollar bone for a CT scan and we have no problem throwing 500 dollar epogin shots at people just because the pharmacy co's can rip it out of our...(pardon my crude language) *sshole....

U know. Something is not right in River City when all we can do is run around like a bunch of Bush infected Keystone cops and throw money at things after the fact. All we can do is politicize stuff after the big devastation. All we can do is blame saddam hussein for blowing up the twin towers and spend half a trillion dollars to chase him half way around the world and find him hiding in a hole w/ a cell phone and a pistol.

I don't know why this all doesn't set right w/ me. I don't know why i was born to think for myself. I don't know why i can't sit back and let the feds kick everybody out of a city and put on curfews and let them burn the city.

It reminds me of a federal government that my mom (bless her soul) spoke of in WWII. In sunnyvale california during world war II they made u cover your windows and keep your lights off because the federal government convinced everybody that the Japanese were going to attack u if you kept your lights on.

Now that is some crazy sh*t if u ask me.

"It's obvious they are running scared. As they should be."

Did you listen to NPR this evening? Two reporters put together a time line that is devastating to FEMA. They had interviews with people to back it up. They also claimed that when Bush met with the mayor and the governor in New Orleans, he flatly told them that any aid was conditional on them turning total control over to him. Damn! Isn't that grounds for impeachment? If it isn't, it should be.
