Fair question, but this is a two way street...

Maybe the water really didn't rise... maybe the land is sinking...

"So, using our high school physics what could have caused sea levels to increase by 10 to 20 cm over the last hundred or so years?"

You seem to employ a rather sharp tone. Ummm, I just filled a glass with water, and then dropped a couple of rock into it, the water level raised. Maybe thats it; the water level is raising because of lava, silt and other stuff being dumped into the oceans. Oh, I know, more boats and ships are displacing soooo much water, that levels are rising.

Now, prove that water level measurements are not just statistical noise.
